Volunteer Memphis is
the official volunteer clearinghouse for Memphis and Shelby County in case
of a major disaster.

We will open a
volunteer reception center after a major disaster strikes Memphis and
Shelby County.

Volunteers can call or walk in to find out what
services are needed.

We will match
the volunteers with disaster relief volunteer opportunities.
How can I
volunteer for disaster relief NOW?

Disasters
happen every day in our region, ranging from single family house fires to
local flooding. Shelby County Disaster relief agencies need
volunteers now! Contact us
for a list of agencies
and their volunteer needs. .

Help
protect your community by joining the Memphis and Shelby County Health
Department Public Health Reserve Corps/ Medical Reserve Corps today and be
apart of this great team! You do not have to have a medical background to
volunteer just the willingness to serve during time in crisis. Call

can I prepare for a disaster?

There
are many websites that can help you and your family be prepared for
disasters. Visit our links
page for disaster preparedness websites.

The
Mid-South Chapter
of the Red Cross
and Volunteer Memphis are available to give disaster preparedness and volunteer
opportunities presentations to groups of 15 or more. Contact us
to schedule a presentation.

You
can also check out Ready.gov for more
information direct from the United States government on disaster
preparedness.

For
information on informative two-day training about how you can help your family and neighbors
in disasters go to the local Emergency Management Agency's website
and register for CERT (Certified Emergency Response Team).

The
Mid-South Chapter of the Red Cross also has basic disaster preparedness
classes as well as more advanced classes targeted to Red Cross
volunteers. Call 726-1690 for a schedule of classes.

let's not forget about Man's Best Friend. Learn how to prepare your
